Whew! The Day of Dread(TM) is almost over and I’m nearing home free when it comes to work! Yay for the kitteh!
I watched the pilot episode of Dollhouse on Hulu and I was pretty impressed by the idea of the show. It left me wanting to know so much more about this new universe being laid out before us. We’ll see if it can live up to Buffy/Angel, or fizzle out like Firefly did. Fox is bravely going through with this show and I give them kudos for it!
Tuesday is going to be a super busy day and I’m looking forward to pieces of it. The new computer chairs my roommate and I ordered will arrive, along with his new bedset and hopefully the laptop bag I need to return to Dell so I can exchange it out for a different one. Guess it will give me a chance to see if the bag will work before sending it back to them.
Ordered a new mouse for my lappie top and a few books to read and a couple of movies. Nothing too major as I just need something fresh to sink my teeth into book and DVD wise.
Argh. Starting to get sleepy….

Wonder Woman Statue
This year DC is introducing a line of statues based on cover art by Adam Hughes. I am excited! First off I enjoy his artwork immensely and second of all, I adore statues of awesome female characters. I don’t own any statues, but I think I might actually make an exception to this little issue.
So far, the only two I’ve seen available for pre-order online from DC Direct or other retailers are the Wonder Woman (pictured) and Zatanna Statues. Wonder woman is due out on June 10th and Zatanna is due out August 26th. These dates, naturally, are tentative and subject to change probably.
The next two statues I’ve seen for this particular line are Catwoman and Black Canary. I got lucky on those two as someone who went to NYCC snapped some pictures of them in a case at the DC booth. Both statues look amazing! I wish I could find pre-order information on the Catwoman statue especially. The tentative date I noticed in the picture for the Catwoman statue is October. Not so certain about the ship date for the Black Canary one. We shall see as more details will be revealed over the coming months, I’m sure.
The pre-order prices listed on the DC Direct page are $99.99, but I’ve seen them range from about $85 to $92 on other sites on the Interwebs. Going to try to find the best deal on these beauties and snag at least the Catwoman one for my own personal happiness.
I’m just one excited kitty!!
I know there is a Women of the DC Universe bust line, but I’ve yet to be able to snag any of those. Seen plenty of pictures of the gals in the series, but I bet pictures don’t do them enough justice. Think there is a Catwoman bust in that set… Hmm… definitely going to check now!

I’ve taken an introduction course to programming (nothing too fancy, just VisualBasic .NET) and found it to be rather interesting except for the boring calculator programs we spent our time writing. I learned a decent bit considering it was just an 11 week course and the instructor is a bit of an oddball when it comes to his methods of teaching. It sparked a bit of interest in the programming field, but sometimes I wonder if perhaps that interest is a lot broader than my interest in networking–which just so happens to be my major–than I’ve realized.
In my Linux OS course that I’m currently in, the same instructor has touched on the fact that knowing Python, Perl, BASH, and C would be very handy to have in we go to work in a UNIX/Linux environment. This has sparked a relative frenzy of information searching in me and now I want to get a Linux box up and working, learn more C and Python. I’d love to learn more in VisualBasic as well and Perl and Bash down the road, too. I think this stuff would be really handy to know and might even put my foot through some good doorways when it comes to getting a job down the line. I know I won’t start off making much money, but I can’t really afford to land a job making less than what I make now. I’d really like to start off in the $15 - $18 range, but is that pushing it for entry level? I might be banished off to some Help Desk position anyway and I doubt they’d pay a glorified printer-installer-pc-back-up-maker more than $8 to maybe $11 an hour.
Who knows, really. All I do know is the fact I have really become interested in Linux and programming. It’s a pity I’m not learning that much from this course right now and might have to rely on the fact this is just HALF of the Linux opportunity I am getting. Here’s hoping my next instructor is a bit less airheaded and more interested in teaching us things that actually matter.

I need a headboard and footboard for my bed almost desperately. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a “traditional” bed by true definition of that term. When I was in high school, my Aunt bestowed upon me a wooden frame futon and basket weave chair combo that I had well up until 2006 as my bed (not the basket weave chair :P). Since it served me well, the futon now acts as a couch in my bedroom, leaving me with my basic matress-boxspring combo upon an even more basic brown wheeled frame. Boring!
My bed is full sized (perfect for just moi and my mound of soft pillows and various blankets) and since I think it is going to be just me for quite some time, I can invest in a headboard and footboard to make my bed look more official.
After scouring the Intarwebs, I found this beauty over at Target, and I am absolutely in lust with it! The price tag is a bit steep, but I have plenty of time to save up for the purchase and not much else really going on. I am severly lacking when it comes to grown-up furnishings in my room and I think perhaps it is time to look more to the future and leave a bit of my childhood aside. Not all of it, but some.
Along with the bed frame, I’d like to some day invest in something a bit more girlie and squee-worthy: a mirrored vanity. Like so…. I also found this beauty over at Target’s website. Another pricey piece of furniture, but I definitely don’t have a spot for it at the moment, so this is a simple pipe dream. Someday I will have my own spot to play dress-up and feel girlie at. Maybe not today, nor tomorrow, but someday when I’ve figured out what it is exactly I want in this life for myself. Heh, perhaps when I move to some lofty little place in NYC and desperately need to not waste space….
We’ll see :]

So I received my Moonlight Rose three piece tea set from HSN yesterday and I am in love! The set consisted of all three pieces in their large size variety, which is what I wanted, and are absolutely gorgeous in person! I am so glad I made this investment and now all I need to do is continue getting each piece in this collection so I will have a beautiful set of china!
Will be taking some pictures of this set here in the near future and will post them :]

Anyone who knows me rather well can tell you that I have a very weird obsession-love-thing with Batman. Yes, odd, I know, but you can just eat me. Okay, maybe obsession is too strong a word considering I’m truly not a very good fangirl on any level whatsoever. I squee just enough and ramble just long and hard enough to get it across that I do indeed have a strong sentiment of emotion for the Caped Crusader.
(Just a warning, it’s going to get spoilery after this point)
So tell me why, then, did DC decide it was a good idea to let Grant Crazy-Fucker Morrison kill off the Batman in this latest issue of Final Crisis? Will someone please fill me in on the details for this one please. I can understand where it is coming from and all that junk, but seriously why my man? It’s always the ones I like! I’m doomed in the love department, even in the fake love department. Doomed.
That all being said, I know it is a comic book. No one stays dead in comic books for long. Look at Hal Jordan! He was dead for ten years before given another shot at being awesome (and he’s pretty damn awesome–just not my Batman). Of course, Marvel hasn’t brought back Captain America just yet, but I’m certain it’s up their sleeve at some point. I just hope Batman’s return isn’t cheesy or retarded. I wanted to see him and Selina waltz off into the sunset together finally. That would have made this kitty so happy… and not because I’m bias!

HSN.com has just come my best friend when it comes to this set of bone china I am desperately in lust with! They offer a few pieces I desire from their online shop and have flex payments! I think I’m going to throw back some cash and get the tea set (pictured) at the least because it’s just something I’ve always wanted to own, a gorgeous teapot and sugar bowl, creamer set. Simply stunning. If they keep offering the pattern through the site with flex payments, I will probably slowly start putting together this particular pattern and get a china cabinet for display and keeping.
I just happened across the HSN website last night while being bored before bed. I’m rather glad I was bored now! Just more fuel to the fire that is my current obsession, I suppose. Might need to make a checklist to keep myself in order…..
Work today, school tomorrow, but at least it shall be my day off! Woohoo! Need to get things together so my roomie and I can run by Lowes and Home Depot after class to see about making my lil’ kitchen island a reality instead of a crazy pipe dream. Here’s hoping it will be do-able and not cost a king’s ransom to create.

Just a test to see if this cross-posting plugin is working properly on both ends. If not, then I guess it shall be right back to the drawing room board, eh?
Testy kitty is very testy. Test test test. I think it is coffee time soon. Mmm hazelnut coffe rocks :]
No more jibberish after this if it works, promise.

I am by no means a delicate flower, but I have my moments where something absolutely feminine sweeps me away. Such things to move me in such a way are gorgeous hand painted Polish stonewear, or as in this case, delicate bone china.
I long to have tea time with friends. Perhaps it is something they only do over in the UK or amongst high society circles (hell, in the movies), or in girlhood fantasies, but it is something I’ve always held such a soft spot in my heart for. I often imagine sitting outside under the shade of some great oak, seated at a circular table laden with delicate china decked out in roses, holding the sweet bounty that friends share. An off-white lace table cloth ruffles in the springtime breezes as butterflies and bees dance amongst the backdrop garden of some richly appointed home.
Yes. Big dream right there.
I’ll settle for someday owning a beautiful, delicate set of bone china like the image in my post and the wonderful company of a circle of friends to enjoy warm pastries and tea with. Even we Leo’s can calm down our dreams of the Big Time.
This particular bone china is known as the Royal Albert Moonlight Rose pattern and it is just gorgeous! I happened across a website selling these beauties and instantly fell in lust. I would love perhaps just to own a set of tea cups and saucers, the tea pot (perhaps coffee pot, too), covered sugar bowl, cream jug, sugar and cream tray and the sandwich tray. That’d be absolutely perfect for afternoon tea with my wonderful friends. But who am I kidding? I’d love to have an entire set of that gorgeous pattern. Ah, the Leo rears its ugly head in me sometimes…

NEW YORK – A 140-year-old lobster once destined for a dinner plate received the gift of life Friday from a Park Avenue seafood restaurant.
George, the 20-pound supercentenarian crustacean, was freed by City Crab and Seafood in New York City.
“We applaud the folks at City Crab and Seafood for their compassionate decision to allow this noble old-timer to live out his days in freedom and peace,” said Ingrid E. Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
PETA spokesman Michael McGraw said the group asked City Crab to return George to the Atlantic Ocean after a diner saw him at the restaurant, where steamed Maine lobster sells for $27 per pound. George had been caught off Newfoundland, Canada and lived in the tank for about 10 days before his release.
Some scientists estimate lobsters can live to be more than 100 years old. PETA and the restaurant guessed George’s age at about 140, using a rule of thumb based on the creature’s weight.
He was to be released Saturday near Kennebunkport, Maine, in an area where lobster trapping is forbidden.
I found that article to be rather interesting and a bit refreshing. That poor ol’ guy was destined for a dinner plate until PETA (as scary as they can sometimes be…) stepped up for him. Now he can swim about and spawn all he likes until the end of his days. Or whatever it is old lobsters like to do in the seas. I wonder if any of them truly get to be so old anymore. It reminds me of Finding Nemo and the ages of sea turtles in a little way.
