I’ve gotten back into my crafty habbits the last few months and it has been so nice. Long time since I even felt the urge to really put my creativity to the test and the results have been mixed. I wish my hobbies weren’t so expensive at times, but I guess that’s just how it goes.

Clear stamp collecting (and crafting with!) has become a new passion of mine. I picked up 3 new sets from My Favorite Things (link on the sidebar) and they are gorgeous! The sets are: By the Seashore (Mini Set), Party Girl by Amanda Baird (Full Set), and Hare for the Holidays (Full Set). I got a pretty good bargin on these stamps as well, with the price tag coming to $29.65 with shipping. Excellent deal considering the full retail price for just the stamp sets would have been $40.90 and then $2.95 for shipping. I saved a total of $14.20 and that is money you can’t sneeze at these days. And after taking another look on their website, the only set I can still see for sale is By the Sea Shore, but it’s been marked back up to its full retail value of $9. Hmmm… glad I picked up these sets when I did then! Just need to pick up some CD cases to put these in and label them.

Today marks the start of the two week long Derby Festival, which leads right up to the Run for the Roses, or as most seem know it, the Kentucky Derby. These two weeks leading up to the first leg of the Triple Crown, are the highlight of living in Louisville. There are tons to see and do during this time and honestly, Derby season will be the only thing I miss about this city once I leave it. If I return just for this one particular time of the year, it will be enough to give me a taste of home.

Thunder Over Louisville (which takes place downtown on the waterfront) marks the beginning of the two weeks. It is preceeded by a fabulous air show up until it gets dark. About 10 pm-ish, is when the fun really begins! If you’ve never been to a big fireworks show, you must come to Louisville for this event! I’ve yet to really see anything top this production my city and state proudly put on each April.

This is just something I get excited about each and every year… my absolute favorite part about living in Kentucky is all about two weeks leading up to a 2 1/2 minute horse race. You’ve gotta love the South!

For years I’ve often wondered just who the hell I am. What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? Why do the stars look so bright? When will I get what is mine? Etc. etc. etc…. wash, rinse and repeat as necessary. It has sorta come as a startling conclusion to a rather confusing near 26 years on this planet, that I am exactly who I am. I am kitteh. I am Krissy. I am Christina. I’m a daughter. I’m a sister. I’m a friend. I’m a co-worker and fellow student in the philosophy of life. I’m just me. Every day when I wake up and rub the sleep and dreams from my eyes, I’m just me. I’m a geek and proud. I’m a goofball and loser. I’m the most awesome thing ever seen.

And next year, I’m making a change and taking a chance that might break my heart, but it will be worth it in the end.

I’ve been wanting to try some beauty products by the company philosophy for some time now, but have been a bit reserved about doing so. QVC managed to catch my attention one Tuesday night before bed and lo’ and behold what caught this girl’s fancy? A discovery kit by philosophy featuring their scent Falling in Love. I snatched it up because it was under $30 for a three-piece kit that included a fragrance spray, shower 3-in-1 and body lotion. Hell yeah! Under $30?! I just had to take this chance. I am sooo glad I did!

The scent is so light and airy, yet compelling. It has a vanilla undertone that isn’t over-whelming and a spicy zing that keeps me smelling delicious and feeling beautiful all day long. I’ve actually found people being rather nice to me when I wear it. Who knew a fragrance could inspire such soothing feelings and just utter feminine charm? I didn’t, but then again I’m just now unfurling truly into the art of being a pampered princess and the art of womanly mystique is still new to me.

Darn my being a tomboy for so long ;]

Who knew you could truly combine beauty, geekiness and Krissy into one pot. Stir and heat until something totally new and awesome emerges from the stew.

I am so ready to fall in love with myself this year!

So I just found out late last night that my little brother, who is turning 19 on the 29th of this month, is moving out of state. He is heading down to Clearwater Florida with his girlfriend and her parents. I knew he had planned on moving out of state, but nothing prepared me for the fact it would be this soon. Wednesday. He’s leaving before his birthday and I haven’t seen him since about October. I feel like such a horrible older sister, I really do. I can’t believe my baby brother is flying free of the nest and to of all places Florida!

He’s going to be approximately 898.26 miles (or roughly 14 hours and 7 minutes) away from me. He’s never lived away from home before and now he’s going to a state where he knows absolutely no one except for his girlfriend and her parents. I’ve never even met these people! How do I know they aren’t psychos who are going to chop him up and eat him? I suppose I just have to have faith that he truly can take care of himself and do the right thing. I’m just praying he doesn’t make me an Aunt anytime soon! Please please please no babies yet!

I’m really going to miss him…

Today I had the joys of purchasing and watching the newsest DC animated feature length film featuring everyone’s favorite amazon with a laso–Wonder Woman. I do have to say it was a fun romp into fantasy and I did quite enjoy watching it. While I will do my best to keep this review not-so-spoilery-that-you-can’t-watch it, I cannot promise anything won’t be revealed in this review. So you have been warned, ladies and gents!

Now, onward to the fun stuff!

Our film starts off with a rather confusing battle taking place between some armored women (we can safely assume are Amazons) and some crazy looking monsters and equally armored men. Lives are lost and the battle ensues, giving us an idea as to what we have in store for us. Apparently, the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyte, was pissed off at the God of War, Ares, for some grievence against women (and for taking advantage of her womb, apparently). So they fight and Ares is defeated. Before the angered Queen can mete out true vegenece, she is stopped by both Zeus and Hera. Ares is enslaved and his powers stripped from him, forced to be prisoner to the Amazons. The Amazons are then given a paradise isle and quasi-immortality as the ravages of time cannot steal away their youth and beauty, but they can die by the sword.

Hera also promises Hippolyte another thing: a child. One that isn’t born of “unholy” union, but of her own making. Something she can truly treasure.

Que to years later, we see a grown up Princess Diana. Strong, beautiful, she is a treasure to her mother and her people, but is a bit restless. As it would have it, the aircraft of a US pilot gets shot down during a skirmish and luckily lands on Paradise Isle. This fateful event brings about a lot of changes for both the Amazons and their princess, but perhaps gives the world its most honorable savior–Wonder Woman!

I really enjoyed the DVD and plan on watching the special features on the second disc here later. It isn’t the best movie in the world, but as far as animated direct-to-videos go, this is a gem! If you love Wondie, go pick this baby up and give her a watch.

Granted this is not the bust I wanted the most (Series 1 Catwoman is hotter), but it’s a fitting start to a collection that’s going to grow as quickly as I can manage without busting my wallet or running out of space to display them. Hrm. Maybe now is a good time to price/look for a curio cabinet to store my beauties in.

Anyway!

Catwoman Series 2 bust arrives on Monday, shipped via UPS and purchased from Things From Another World. Got her for a decent price, too!

I will not give up looking for Series 1 Catwoman bust tho’…. I really want to add that one to my collection as it just looks so freaking hot! Ugh. I love Catwoman…

I think the next bust I am going to purchase will either be the Series 1 Catwoman (if I can find it for less than $400 x_x ) or the Series 2 Starfire bust… or maybe the Black Canary one. Depends on which one wins the toss up I suppose.

Now, I better get to looking for a curio cabinet…

I am a geek. I am a geeky girl. I am a geeky girl who loves comic books, video games, coding, anime/manga, cuddly sexy geeky boys and fanfiction. There are tons of girls out there in cyberspace and the real world just like me! We all have our fandoms and dislikes and general snarkiness. We fangirl the hell out of the characters we love and hate on those we cannot stand for our billions of reasons.

We are awesome! Made entirely of win and rock hard core like our boy counter points! No. We rock harder than our boy counter points!! And we have to.

Recently, LiveJournal closed down my absolute favorite community on their site: Scans_Daily. It was a place for all people who love comics to come together to discuss our passion. Be it Batman or Superman, Wolverine or Jean-I-Can’t-Stay-Dead-Grey. Be it the Big Two or some dinky online published comic love, it didn’t matter to us. Scans were posted and friendships forged. Comics were displayed, discussed, snarked about, given homoerotic subtext (with or without context!) and fun was had by all.

Sure, Scans_Daily had its own moments of weirdness, but it was never truly in malice for the Comic Book Industry(TM). We laughed as Lex Luthor stole 40 cakes (you fiend!) and cried when something truly touched our souls. We snickered at all the Batdickery and boobs that don’t work that way. Yes, we posted scans of comic books that could contain (and oft did) spoilers, but no one was forced to click on anything! We didn’t hold guns to anyone’s heads and tell them to OMFG!CLICKIT!

If not for Scans_Daily I wouldn’t have more love (and lust) for Batman and his alter ego Bruce Wayne. I wouldn’t have gotten into Tiny Titans or found out about FreakAngels. I wouldn’t like Superman and Green Lantern, have found the web comic work by authors such as Black Cat (Yay for BatFamily!) and my trade collection and short boxes wouldn’t be FULL of purchases. Comics would have become a passing hobby for me, replaced by some other geeky love I might have fallen into.

So here’s to Scans_Daily who helped keep my love for comics alive. Who brought me stories I never would have seen otherwise, nor purchased, and countless fun from reading all the comments (snarky and otherwise). You’ll always hold a piece of this geeky girl’s heart.
