To Scans_Daily, with Love

I am a geek.  I am a geeky girl.  I am a geeky girl who loves comic books, video games, coding, anime/manga, cuddly sexy geeky boys and fanfiction.  There are tons of girls out there in cyberspace and the real world just like me!  We all have our fandoms and dislikes and general snarkiness.  We fangirl the hell out of the characters we love and hate on those we cannot stand for our billions of reasons.

We are awesome! Made entirely of win and rock hard core like our boy counter points!  No.  We rock harder than our boy counter points!!  And we have to.

Recently, LiveJournal closed down my absolute favorite community on their site: Scans_Daily.  It was a place for all people who love comics to come together to discuss our passion.  Be it Batman or Superman, Wolverine or Jean-I-Can’t-Stay-Dead-Grey.  Be it the Big Two or some dinky online published comic love, it didn’t matter to us.  Scans were posted and friendships forged.  Comics were displayed, discussed, snarked about, given homoerotic subtext (with or without context!) and fun was had by all.

Sure, Scans_Daily had its own moments of weirdness, but it was never truly in malice for the Comic Book Industry(TM).  We laughed as Lex Luthor stole 40 cakes (you fiend!) and cried when something truly touched our souls.  We snickered at all the Batdickery and boobs that don’t work that way.  Yes, we posted scans of comic books that could contain (and oft did) spoilers, but no one was forced to click on anything!  We didn’t hold guns to anyone’s heads and tell them to OMFG!CLICKIT!

If not for Scans_Daily I wouldn’t have more love (and lust) for Batman and his alter ego Bruce Wayne.  I wouldn’t have gotten into Tiny Titans or found out about FreakAngels.  I wouldn’t like Superman and Green Lantern, have found the web comic work by authors such as Black Cat (Yay for BatFamily!) and my trade collection and short boxes wouldn’t be FULL of purchases.  Comics would have become a passing hobby for me, replaced by some other geeky love I might have fallen into.

So here’s to Scans_Daily who helped keep my love for comics alive.  Who brought me stories I never would have seen otherwise, nor purchased, and countless fun from reading all the comments (snarky and otherwise).  You’ll always hold a piece of this geeky girl’s heart.
